Rave Build Blog. Stay up to date with software releases and the happenings at Rave HQ.

Detailed reports and schedules ready to access anytime on your phone or computer via Rave Build is a great luxury to have. But sometimes you just need a “hard copy” of those same reports, and unfortunately, when using most software, it’s just not that easy to get that. A client recently highlighted this problem, and to combat this, we’ve updated our Task Gantt chart displays to be printed to one page!

The Rave Build Task schedule and Task Gantt chart are available for any projects that have a schedule loaded up. To check the Task Gantt out, just click on the blue Action button within the Project’s Schedule tab, and then select Task Gantt.

Here’s how to get to the Task Gantt chart via the Build Schedule page.

How to print the Task Gantt to one page:

When you first display the Gantt chart, it will probably be set to a default viewing range of 3 months from today. Printing such a wide date range may make the chart really small, especially if printing to A4 vs an A3, A2 or A1 sized page, the fix for this is to select a smaller date range or a larger paper output as required.

Once you have your date range selected, click the “Select Print Option” dropdown menu and select “ Print to one page”. The default print setting will likely be Portrait view and 100% scale. Some printers allow you to automatically have the chart “Fit to page”, but if you don’t have this option, you’ll want to change the layout to landscape, and adjust the scale accordingly – until you’re happy with how the Task Gantt is displayed in your  Print Preview window.

Find the above selected Dropdown menu, and select “Print to one page”.

Along with those adjustments, you can also select the Colour or B&W printing, and the Paper Size – if you have the option of selecting from a range of printers – and usually, the bigger the print, the better, select the best printer suitable for the job.

Above is an example of how the default Print Preview will most likely look – and below, after a few quick adjustments.

Your printers preview window provides a great look in for the chart you’re about to print – but if the date range is still too wide and/or the resulting task gant will print out too small, change the scale, the paper output, or cancel and edit the visible Task Gantt duration as required.
